Supporting Children in Ukraine
As we are all aware, the war in the Ukraine has continued to intensify and remains a tragic loss of life. At Earl Monroe, we believe it is our responsibility to ensure our students have an understanding of the world beyond theirs–and that they are engaged and finding their voice to speak on critical issues facing humanity. We are trying to use this as a teaching moment and raise awareness and recognition of the impact of war–and the heroic actions people take to stand up for what’s right. To this end, we have developed a badge to honor the heroic efforts of Ukrainians who sought to protect hundreds of civilians and children seeking refuge in the Mariupol theater after their homes were destroyed. These brave residents painted the word for “children” around the theater in a last-ditch effort to deter attacks. Just as we support anti-gun violence with our orange badge and the BIPOC community with the words on our jerseys, we proudly support Ukraine and all of the children of the world with this badge.
